At Mark Johnson, DDS, your health and comfort are of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we employ the latest innovations in dental technology to create a better dental experience for you. Here are some of the tools we can use to enhance your oral health:
Air abrasion allows us to clean your teeth safely and quickly. A specialized instrument blows a tiny stream of particles at the decay that has accumulated on your teeth. This is a gentle and efficient way to remove decay. Because this technology is so gentle, you don’t need anesthetic, and the process is over before you know it.
iTero® 3D Scanner
This 3D scanner allows us to take digital impressions of your mouth. If you’ve ever had impressions taken the traditional way, you know that it can be an uncomfortable experience.
For those with a sensitive gag reflex, having goop in your mouth is not ideal. Using the iTero scanner we can take highly accurate, 3D images of your teeth and gums. We can then create better implements for your mouth, including crowns and veneers.
Using our intraoral camera, we can view your mouth from many different angles. We use the camera to help us diagnose and catch issues as they arise.
We love this technology because it provides a clear view of your mouth that was not possible just a few years ago. We’re also able to show you the images, so you can see what we’re seeing. This technology means that you can take a more active role in your care.
Digital x-rays are now preferred by most dentists, dental specialists, and insurance companies. These x-rays are also safer than traditional x-rays because they use significantly less radiation.
Digital x rays allow us to take pictures of your mouth and upload them into an imaging program. Through the imaging program, we can examine each tooth very closely. We’ll also be able to examine the other structures that support your teeth.
This dental tool delivers local anesthetic in your mouth. As dentists, we love this technology because it means we can anesthetize a single tooth at a time. Unlike shots, it’s pain-free!
The anesthesia takes effect immediately, and we can go straight to work on your tooth, meaning less time for you in the dentist chair. The greatest benefit is that you no longer have to leave our office with a numb tongue, cheeks, or lips!
Oral Cancer Screenings
We want to do everything in our power to detect and treat oral cancers and other abnormalities as soon as possible. When you come in for an exam and cleaning, we’ll perform an oral cancer screening. This important test can help us keep you safe from a deadly form of cancer.
